Helping Children with Autism (HCWA)
Important Information for families about Medicare rebates under Helping Children with Autism (children over 7 and under 15)
Under the Medicare “Helping Children with Autism” initiative, a child can be referred by a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist for the following allied health services:
- up to four (4) diagnostic / assessment services delivered by psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, audiologists, optometrists, orthoptists or physiotherapists to assist the referring practitioner with diagnosis or to contribute to a child’s treatment and management plan (for a child under 13 years of age).
- up to twenty (20) treatment services delivered by our psychologists (for a child under 15 years of age, providing a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday).
NDIS funding (all ages)
Some families may be eligible for NDIS funding. The available funding (budget) and the services applicable to the NDIS plan will vary from person to person. Feel free to contact the clinic should you wish to discuss your eligibility and suitability with our services.
Important Information for families about DSS/FaHCSIA Helping Children with Autism funding (children under 7)
The Department of Social Services “DSS” (previously “FaHCSIA”) has established a panel of early intervention service providers to deliver evidence based services to eligible children as part of the Helping Children with Autism package.
Please note the DSS/FaHCSIA Helping Children with Autism funding program has transitioned to NDIS as of 2021.
